PRINTABLE LESSON NOTES

Draw the basic shape of the head as an oval. Don't draw the hood yet, save that for later. Draw two guidelines; one vertical and one across the face dividing it in half each way. Draw the eyes on the halfway mark going across keeping the eyes evenly spaced from the vertical guideline. His eyes are curved on top and flat on the bottom. Put the shiny spot in the eye before you shade it in or color it.

The nose is halfway down from the eyes. The nose is shaped like the letter "u" with two curved marks on each side.  Shadow only one side of the nose.

The mouth is halfway down from the nose.  The lower lip is like two ovals together. The top is covered with the mustache. Shade the bottom of the lower lip.

The tops of the ears are as high as the eyes and the bottom is as low as the bottom of the nose. The ears are in the shadow of the hood, so don't worry too much about them.

The neck starts down at the ears, keep most of it in shadow.

Take your time with the eyebrows and the beard. The hair in the eyebrows go in three different directions, it starts up at the by the nose then tilt over some halfway across and the last part points toward the ear. When you do the beard keep the jaw looking hard and square.

Draw the hood last.

Put in a lot of shadows in the face. keep the beard and the eyes dark.
I could have done more with the hood it is supposed to be heavy black canvas material and has heavy thick folds in it.
